Once Upon A Time . . .

Friday, May 28th, 2010

We all love a good story, and stories about ancient castles, brave knights and hideous monsters are usually really good ones right?  Heck, those kind of stories helped inspire me to create Castle Panic after all.

I guess it only seems fair that after all this we’ve inspired a story.  Even more fair in that it’s a really short story, since our game plays pretty quick as well.  Writer and Artist Andi Newton has penned a 100 word story set in the world of Castle Panic and it tickles us to no end.  The only bad part? I want to know what happens next.

We know we’ve got a lot of creative fans out there. If you’ve got a story you’ve written about our world of castles and monsters, let us know!  You can submit your story to us through this link and we’ll post the ones we like the best in a special section of our website!

They say the pen is mightier than the sword, but I don’t know if that helps against giant boulders.

Protospiel South Starts Today!

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Hey everyone.  If you’re in the Austin area and love games, especially NEW games, I want to let you know about Protospiel South that’s happening this weekend.  It’s the same idea as the classic Protospiel convention that’s held every year up in Michigan, except thanks to Austin’s own Jonathan Leistiko, we’re getting our own version of it here in Texas.

To quote their own website; “Protospiel South is a gathering for amateur and established game designers to test and promote nearly-finished game prototypes. The atmosphere is casual, yet everyone is serious about their goals and dreams of publishing games.”

It’s a great idea and a fun wayto see new game ideas that may eventually make it onto the shelves of your local game store.  Today is mostly setup and registration, but tomorrow and Sunday will be where the gaming gets started.  The convention takes place at the Best Western Atrium North, in Austin and admission is $20 at the door for a day pass, or $30 for the entire  weekend.

Co-Optimus Review

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

The most recent review of Castle Panic comes from the website Co-optimus.com. It’s a review sight that focuses on games that have a cooperative element to them. Most of their reviews are of video games, but they’re not afraid to roll some dice and take on a board game or two. (more…)
